Hybrid Concert Series
1, 15, 29 October 2026
Galiläakirche - Berlin

The Hybrid Concert Series brings together 15 female musicians from 11 countries for three nights of experimental, contemporary and electroacoustic music in Berlin.

Across three concerts at Galiläakirche, string instruments including violin, viola, cello, bandura, oud, qanun, harp, double bass, hurdy-gurdy and kamancheh are expanded through live electronics, looping, effects, improvisation, extended techniques and unconventional approaches to performance.

Each night presents four distinct artistic projects, creating encounters between different instruments, musical traditions and contemporary practices.

1 OCTOBER 2026 — DAY 1

Vasylysa Furmanova — Bandura & Effects

Golsana Shenasaei — Cello, Live Looping & Field Recordings

Avin Ahmadi & Victoria Kirilova — Oud & Double Bass

Xani Kolac — Violin, Electronics & Live Looping

The opening night moves between traditional instruments and electronic transformation, bringing Ukrainian, Iranian, Bulgarian and contemporary experimental practices into dialogue through improvisation, looping and amplified sound.

15 OCTOBER 2026 — DAY 2

Julia Biłat — Cello & Extended Techniques

Caroline Cecilia Tallone & Isabel Rößler — Electroacoustic Hurdy-Gurdy & Double Bass

Nanaco — Violin, Electronics & Live Looping

Dina Doosti — Kamancheh & Looping

Day 2 explores the physical and experimental possibilities of string instruments through extended techniques, free improvisation, electroacoustic sound, movement, groove and live electronics.

29 OCTOBER 2026 — DAY 3

Jean-Louise Parker — Viola, Looping & Effects

Marina Mello — Harp & Electronics

Biliana Voutchkova — Violin & Effects

Nafsika Gkotzamani & Felicitas Arnold — Qanun & Violin

The final night moves through experimental viola, prepared and electronic harp, contemporary violin practice and a dialogue between qanun and violin, bringing together improvisation, composition, texture and cross-cultural collaboration.

Rather than presenting one definition of contemporary string music, the Hybrid Concert Series explores how artists from different backgrounds reshape their instruments and practices — moving between acoustic and electronic sound, composition and improvisation, cultural tradition and experimentation.

All three concerts take place at Galiläakirche Berlin on 1, 15 and 29 October 2026.

The Hybrid Concert Series is presented by Borderless Creatures and accompanied by the Hybrid Practice Lab, a six-part workshop program exploring music production, musician wellbeing, extended techniques, Iranian contemporary music, microtonality and sustainable professional practice.
